Questions and Answers

What is the dress code for your wedding?

We do not have a rigid dress code, the most important thing for us is that our guests feel comfortable and well dressed. This is a garden party, so don’t come in a ball gown or a tuxedo, but please do dress nicely!

We are both inclined towards the mystical and fantastical, so if you want to wear something a little more old fashioned or whimsical you are very welcome to. Summer dresses, conventional semi-formal outfits and national dress are of course all very appropriate. Hats are optional but if you’d like to wear one we encourage you to do so!

Are children welcome?

Absolutely! The wedding venue is a beautiful property and there are plenty of exciting places to play, including a large lake suitable for swimming. We are also planning a bonfire.

The only part of the wedding that will be adults only is the later part of the reception party on Saturday night. We will have drivers who can help getting to/from the hotel around this time.

We are hoping for a level of decorum during the ceremony and dinner, but the property is large enough that any particularly energetic children can be taken to play elsewhere if that should come up.

Should I bring food or drinks?

During the reception on Saturday we will provide dinner, cake and some light snacks as the evening goes on. Anyone who wants to bake a cake for the cake table will be much appreciated!

Friday evening for the mixer we will arrange for a food truck/catering solution where the guests can pay for food themselves.

Welcome drinks and drinks for dinner will be provided free of charge on Saturday. Otherwise we will have a bar with beer, cider, wine and a couple of cocktails, where you can buy drinks for retail price. Otherwise you are welcome to bring your own bottles (or kegs) both for yourself or to share! Be aware that refrigeration space is quite limited.

Will there be vegan/vegetarian/gluten-free food options?

Yes. We have a set-menu for the dinner but we will endeavour to accommodate or provide alternatives for all dietary restrictions. Please inform us of any allergies or dietary restrictions through the RSVP form.

What can I expect from Odalen?

Both the ceremony, dinner and reception will be held in the same area as something of a garden party, with marques in case of rain. Most of the area is grass, but there’s also a small rocky outcrop by the lake where you can go swimming. The weather can be anything between 12 °C and rainy and 30 °C and sunshine, so dress accordingly.

In terms of facilities there will be outdoor lavatories and hand washing sinks. The house will primarily reserved for those staying there but the indoor bathroom can be made available for those with specific needs such as those with smal children or campers who would like to shower.

The Venue and the nearest village Sand is in a remote and loosely populated area of Norway, so expect to be car dependant if you are staying for a longer time and want to get around. We will arrange transport for our guests on Friday and Saturday, see Venue and Travel for more information!

Do you have a wedding registry (gift list)?

We will soon publish a small registry with a few items on this website, however our main wish is to save up for our honey moon in New Zealand! You can contribute directly towards this through our fundraiser: https://spleis.no/437360

Is there someone I can contact if I have any other questions about the wedding?

Who should I contact if I want to hold a speech or other contribution during the reception?
